MINUTES OF THE ORDINARY COUNCIL MEETING

HELD 18th JULY 2024

During the public session reports were made regarding the amount of MacDonalds rubbish in the verges, it was agreed to write to the branch in Skegness.  Issue of overgrown footpaths and bridges in Sloothby were also raised, as well as concerns at speeding through Sloothby village.  It was noted that the hedge adjacent the Village Green due to be cut October time.

 

30          APOLOGIES

                Apologies and valid reasons for absence were received from Cllrs Fairfield, Hedges and Jenkinson.

31          DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

                There were none.

32          MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD 20TH JUNE 2024

                It was resolved that the Chairman sign these as a correct record.

33          UPDATE FROM THOSE MINUTES

                The Clerk is still to obtain price for an additional speed device plate.

34          ELDC/LCC UPDATES

                There was no LCC representative.

                Cllr Eyre (ELDC) advised that the new Leisure Centre at Mablethorpe was now open.

35          FLOODING UPDATES

                The Clerk read out parts of an email a member of the public had sent to LCC regarding issues and asking for further information on still unresolved matters.

                School corner seemed to have coped with recent heavy rain, although it was noted the Willoughby Arms cellar flooded.

36          VILLAGE MATTERS

                a)  Playing Field/Equipment – It was agreed to ask the grounds contractor to spray off the mares tails on the footpath from Station Road to the playing field.

                b) Village Green – the grass had been cut prior to the Fete, which seemed to go well, apart from one van driver insisting on driving through the road closure.

                c) Allotments – still to be cleared.  Clerk confirmed having 2 on the waiting list.

37          FINANCE

                It was resolved that the following accounts be paid:

                Clerks salary & PAYE (July)                                                    £177.64

                R. Aldrich grounds                                                                      £438.57

38          CORRESPONDENCE

                E mail received regarding the blocking of the bridleway with parked vehicles, some being worked on.  A group of horse riders were unable to exit the bridleway recently.  It was resolved that the Council write to the Housing Association again, and LCC Footpaths Officer.

39          PLANNING

                There were no applications.

                Decision – 598/24 & 597/24 – LBC & PP Hogsbeck House extension – conditionally approved (to be in accordance with plans, cladding to be reversable and in accordance with plans).

40          ANY OTHER MATTERS

                30 mph sign replaced – it was agreed to write to LCC to thank them for their quick response.

                Telephone box Sloothby – footpath behind needs cutting, to ask Grounds Contractor.

                Concern was raised about the moles on the Village Green, but it was agreed that the Council could not lay traps on a public place.

41          NEXT MEETING

                This was noted as 19th September 2024.

42          CLOSED SESSION

                It was resolved  that the Council move into Closed Session to discuss the following item which contained personal information.

43          PINK PAPER – ALLOTMENT ACCESS

 

There being no further business following the Closed Session the meeting closed at 8.35pm
